This is the general document setup.
Independent settings are associated to each document. The document setup
window is opened by "Document>Configuration"
Document setup window groups options by theme. Click on the thumb index
or on button to change theme.
You can apply parameters defined for a saved document to the current
one by clicking "Import", and selecting the document you want to use settings.
It enables you to create a palette of different settings which can be applied
to new documents.
"Preset" button sets the original preset value for all the thumb indexes.
"Default" indicates the current settings will be used by default when
creating a new document.
Signature (Configuring signature analysis)
Time signature is frequently difficult to analyze, because digits 3,
6, 8 and 9 can be easily confused with each other. This mistake can produce
a lot of consequences on the final result. However, a special algorithm
fixes the improbable time divisions.
Manual, simple and complex
time signature search | |
In "manual" mode, the page is supposed not to contain any key
or time signature change. You are asked for it each time a recognition
is started.
In "simple" mode, the automatic processing of time signatures
ignores
complex signatures like 12/2 or 12/8.
In "complex" mode, time signature recognition is made among all
possible values.
To evaluate the final result, load the "msf"
file with Harmony-Melody. If the result is not satisfactory, try again
with a lower search level.
Each page, each staff or each bar key signature search
By default, key or time signature is searched each bar. If wrong key
changes are found, altering the final result, decrease this parameter.
To evaluate the final result, load the "msf"
file with Harmony-Melody.
Symbols (Configuring notes analysis)
OMeR recognizes many musical symbols other than notes and rests. In
some occasions, OMeR can find symbols where they aren't. It can be useful
in this case to ask OMeR not to search for these symbols.
On the other hand, if OMeR doesn't locate some
special symbols, ensure their search is enabled.
Enable grace notes : Grace notes ( appoggiatura
) are little notes placed before a regular note. If notes are written too
close together, OMeR can confuse regular notes with appoggiatura. You can
also select the played duration of appoggiatura in 64th of quarter.
Enable tuplets : enables/disables search of little numbers 2,
3, 6... above note hitches, used to specify duplet, triplet, etc.
Sometimes, fingering notation is drawn identically and can disrupt
OMeR.
Enable reverse head : Reverse head is determined by the stem
location according to the note head. On some scores, a wrong recognition
of note head location can lead to a loss of information about the note
duration, and then to a loss of note.
Enable effects : If effects are found where they aren't, disable
this option.
Enable ties : If tie/slur symbols are
found were they aren't, disable this option.
Enable whole notes : In some occasions, in particular when comments
are written above or below the staves, OMeR can confuse some characters
in this text with whole notes. If there are no real whole notes on your
score, disable this option.
Enable break symbols : If break symbols (tune start/end, repeat
start/end) are found where they aren't, disable this option.
