getting started - playback question, very high

Hi, I'm trying out the PDF to Music app for the first time. I opened a pdf file generated from Sibelius, a choral score with piano accompaniment. It's playing back very high, like the Chipmunks singing. I'm looking for a tutorial that explains it, not finding it so far. The sample scores that came with the app are also playing back this way. What do I do or where do I look to make playback in the correct register and tempo? Chris

Hi Chris, It may happen that voice staves are wrongly pitched one octave up or down, e.g. the "8" below G clef missing for tenors. High soprano notes may be hard to understand, even if sung at right pitch, it depends on the voice. You can either change voice, and set octave shift in Correction > Instruments menu. Try the voices, and if still too high for proper understanding, shift octave down by 1.

Attached is a sound file demonstrating what is happening. This is the playback of Charles Wood "Magnificat" sample score included with the app. I just opened the app, selected this pdf to play, and then played it. It's too fast and too high, accelerated some how. Is it supposed to play accurately without any adjustments to settings, or is there something to do first? Chris

Indeed. Would you please tell us the exact version of PDFtoMusic and your OS. The PDF seems generated by "Garageband"... Would you, in PDFtoMusic, export as "Harmony/Melody" and attach the .myr file?

The sample files are now (sometimes) installed by PDFtoMusic into (..)Myriad Documents/PDFtoMusicDemos I attach the considered one. But I have tried it, and do not find anything abnormal when playing right away.

It's version 2.1.0c Build 2B2B2, MAC OS Sequoia 15.0.1. myr file is attached. The previous sound file uploaded was recorded on my phone and converted to mp3 in Garage Band so I could upload it. Now that I see the export feature in the app I exported it to mp3, and that file sounds normal. Why doesn't the playback feature in the app itself sound like this?

Everything is OK with PDFtoMusic Pro 2.1.0 and 2.1.0c, windows 10. Does the problem occur on other files? Does the problem occur in Harmony Assistant, playing a demo tune? You may use the Help > Send an email with attached pdf, link to this forum topic. Sending an email by this method attachs precious informations for debuging.

Just updated my PDFtoMusic Pro from 1.7.5c Build 25C74 to 2.1.0c. The "chipmunk voices" are happening to me as well. Sequoia 15.3.2. Exact same sheet music that played fine on 1.7.5c is now unusable on 2.1.0c. My use case is isolating my alto part for choir practice. Now I not only can't isolate my part, but the voices are too high and the speed too fast. Thanks to the poster who mentioned MP3 export. I didn't know that existed. That will be handy for on-the-go, but I use PDFtoMusic Pro on my Mac so I can see the notes as I practice my part. Myriad really needs to fix this!

Can you tell us if/how this concern can be reproduced without this intermediary "Garageband"? In any case, I don't understand the dataflow, PDFtoMusic being on a personal computer (Mac or Win) and Garageband running on a smartphone (iPhone, perhaps also Android).

[quote author=CincyBengals link=board=pdftomusic;num=1740947946;start=0#8 date=03/15/25 at 12:22:01] To help Myriad fix the problem, send an email with explanation, pdf and audio if you can record it, from the Help or ? menu > Sens us an email. They will receive debugging datas that may help.
