How much does the "pro" cost and how
« on: Feb 7th, 2007, 3:35pm »

I downloaded the "pro" and downloaded some pdf.

I launched the "pro" and the visual show is worth the money alone.

However, when I went to purchase there was no price and there was no way to add this to my purchase cart.

How much does the pro cost?

How do put it into my purchase cart?

Please remember I am OLD and GOOOFY plus a little bit BLIND> so be gentle in your answers.

I just tried our order page and it worked fine.

If you have any problem using it, please send an e-mail to sylvie@myriad-online.com, describing in detail what happens.
If necessary, she'll provide an alternate payment processing service that you'll be able to use.

OK, now I found it thanks to your URL lead.

The $199. is more then I can afford to pay now.

Is it possible to purchase the $40 version and then with in 3 months  upgrade at an "upgrade"  price that would give credit for the $40 ?

I think this is an excellent suggestion, W, and I hope that it is considered. One good thing about your idea is that it gets more people interested in PDFtoMusic who may not be able to afford the professional price point. If they upgraded later, they could open the files they had already edited.

Personally, I would not put a 3 month time limit on the upgrade. You would want to encourage people to upgrade at any time. But maybe  you would have some type of sliding scale for how much credit the license is worth after X months and Y months.

I would also point to the example set by the Music XML mavens Recordare, who offer to do XML file conversions  to various formats for a fee. Myriad could offer custom XML conversions to customers who could already supply a ready PDFtoMusic document. If they needed more than a certain amount of conversions done for them, the pro purchase price is attractive; of they only needed a few conversions done, it would be very economical to pay the individual conversion fee.

Just thinking out loud - not trying to tell anyone what to do!

I don't think that the "custom conversions for a fee" idea is good for Myriad. The various Myriad products are frequently updated with new features, and that occupies the time of its programmers.

How often does Recordare come out with a new product or new features to existing products?

My inspection of various PDF files shows that many of them have musical notation errors or ambiguities. When converted, the result contains problems that appeared in the original PDF. These can be fixed (exported *.myr file) using Myriad's own products, and could be fixed in exported *.xml using some other method. But that would put Myriad in the position of manually interpreting the music scores for someone else. maybe Recordare has the time and inclination, maybe not Myriad.

Excellent point, Robert. I hadn't really considered the fact that it takes programming resources to do this. I, too would prefer to see improvements and features over something that takes time away from PDFtpMusic if it comes down to a choice.
