When I load a new Guitar staff with MyrSynth enabled, it defaults to Natural Nylon Gt 3. (Ctrl_Shift_R) In the attachment, I am not able to re-name this (added pictures). The Electric guitar is selected and sounds, but is not displayed as such until Natural Nylon Gt 3.is clicked.

Well seen! But not sure it's really a bug. It just says which Gold instrument will be used if you send the file to someone who with no MyriadHQ license, or MyrSynth is disabled. So it's somewhat important to know that if your guitar is replaced by a guitar or not. Even if you use a "user instrument" (you import WAV samples, or a SoundFont), you at least one start with the "Edit instrument" dialog with Gold instruments listed, then the sound ID (a very tiny information) is kept for other users without MyriadHQ, for MIDI export... So, strange, but not really a bug. Imagine the situation: 1) create a new very simple document, the default sound is Piano, the staff name is "Melody" and the instrument name is "Grand Piano 1". 2) Edit instrument, switch to user and import a trumpet soundfont, or switch to MyrSynth and choose a Jazz Guitar. 3) Send your file to someone without MyriadHQ, he will here the sampled trumpet (case user sound),or... the piano (case MyrSynth). 4) Export the file to MIDI format : the .mid plays piano.

| I see your logic, but not how to set the parameters simulated below. With HQ enabled, I cannot change the default Nylon acoustic guitar. (This default from "New", whether HQ enabled or not) If HQ is first disabled, the Preset/User name can be changed (so that a user with no MyriadHQ license does not hear the default Nylon acoustic guitar). However, when HQ is re-enabled, I cannot select the MyrSynth instrument. Are you able to set the result simulated below so that Jazz Guitar is heard by both HQ and non-HQ users ?

If you want to change the sound for no HQ user, switch back to "Digital output" and change the Gold sound, then change to MyrSynth and pick the guitar sound you like. My example is extreme so we not confuse between guitars. 1) new file, piano sound 2) edit instrument > MyrSynth > the guitar you want 3) Relate staves/instruments, oops, piano is there, I need to replace it. 4) Edit instrument, switch to Digital output, choose a vibraphone 5) switch to MyrSynth and choose the guitar you like. 6) Relate staves/instruments, now you see Vibraphone. In Configuration > HQ, untick Enable, you'll here the vibraphone instead of guitar. So, you can change the fallback sound, but you have to re-select the MyrSynth sound. Or, you can script: Code:Include "MSDefine" local score = FrontScore() local instr = score.FirstInstrument while instr do if instr.OutputDevice == MYRSYNTH_OUTPUT_DEVICE then instr.SoundID = 2400; end instr = instr.Next end |
| And now relate staves/instruments show "Nylon Strg Guitar". A little script avoid two edit instrument. By the way, I asked Myriad devs to have a way to know which MyrSynth instrument and play style is selected. For now, it's not possible by script. The only thing I could suggest is a new column "Fallback instrument" that would clarify the "MyrSynth - Vibraphone" case. I can script this too...
