Gold Base as Plugin

Hello, Does anybody know if the Gold Base is a thirt party plugin that can be used in other DAWs? There are no other General MIDI software sound sources to be found (besides Roland Sound Canvas which is ridiculous expensive for its offering), so This Gold Base would really be a smart solution for the Bread and Butter-sounds. Greetings, Peter from Holland.

Hi! The short answer is "no", Gold base can't be used in other DAWs as a plug-in. If you want a Gold base sound, here is a trick I used to import a sound on my keyboard for live performance In global prefs, serach and un tick the "fast user instrument creation". If this option is ticked, switching from a gold to user instrument keep only one sample. Edit an instrument, choose the sound you want, i.e. flute, tick "user-defined". Then you enter in sample editor where you can export wav datas to WAV files, manually, one by one. You may have many samples, and up to 4 velocity layers. I'm not sure the loop markers are exported, this exist in WAV file format, but not all sound editor or sampler use the same standard. So you may have to recreate the loop in your destination software. That's what I did for my keyboard's sampler, with a single-layer and very simple sound.

Thanks for your reply, but just downloading and using a sample from the sounds is not the thing. Besides, the synth-sounds (pads, leads, etc.) aren't that special. In my opinion, it's mainly the acoustics taht makes de Gold Base special. But to get the nuances of those sounds, you need to incapulate it within HA or MA. Nevertheless, a really good treat, pitty you can't use it as a source for other programs.

Yes, the acoustics instruments are good in Gold Base. I'm less used to synths sounds (pad, leads...), but there are many soundfonts available for free on the web. There are also some good VSTi that other DAWs may handle better than HA. HA can also import soundfonts (.sf2 files) and wav files for sampling. If someone know how to create a soundfont file, with Lua scripting, it may be possible to export samples in wav format, one by one. I did it manually once or twice, and I'm planning the opposite : import soundfonts and wav files in HA, and share them here to the Myriad community to extend Gold base.
